Limitra ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that tracks token usage, session limits, and estimated costs on claude.ai. This privacy policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
The Extension collects the following data locally on your device:
Token usage metadata: estimated input/output token counts per message, model name used, conversation identifier (opaque ID only), timestamp, and estimated cost. Usage limit data: session and weekly utilization percentages and reset timestamps from Claude's internal API. Daily summaries: aggregated token counts and cost totals per day. User preferences: display settings, alert thresholds, and dark mode preference.
The Extension never collects, reads, stores, or transmits: your conversation content (prompts or responses), file contents or attachments, search queries, personal information, browsing history outside of claude.ai, or any data from other websites.
All data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local and localStorage. No data is sent to any external server, cloud service, or third-party analytics platform. There is no backend, no user accounts, and no telemetry.
The Extension makes one type of network request: a GET request to Claude's internal usage API (/api/organizations/{org_id}/usage) using your existing session cookies. This request is made solely to retrieve your usage percentages and reset timers. No data is sent in these requests beyond what Claude's own website sends.
storage: To save usage data and preferences locally. alarms: To schedule periodic data cleanup and pricing updates. notifications: To send browser alerts when spending thresholds are reached. Host permission (claude.ai): To inject the usage tracking interface and intercept API responses for token counting.
Individual usage records are kept for 30 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Daily summary aggregates are retained for up to one year. You can clear all data at any time from the extension's options page.
We do not share, sell, or transmit any user data to third parties. Period.
The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
